How to view Instagram stories anonymously

Watch public Instagram stories without appearing in the viewer list, and what to know before you do.

When you watch a story on Instagram while logged in, your username appears in the story’s viewer list. To watch without being seen, you need to view it without your account.

Use an anonymous story viewer

Followed Recently’s Anonymous story viewer loads the active stories of a public account in your browser. You don’t log in to Instagram, so your name never appears in the viewer list.

What works and what doesn’t

Public accounts with active stories (posted within the last 24 hours) work. Private accounts, Close Friends stories and expired stories can’t be viewed, by any legitimate tool.

Avoid the “airplane mode” trick

Loading stories and then switching to airplane mode is unreliable. Instagram often records the view once you reconnect, and pre-loading only covers the first story or two.
